The Summerville girls softball team avoided the storm system that’s settled over the Mother Lode, but couldn’t avoid a steamrolling Amador team in a 19-4 loss Monday night.

The Buffaloes got off to a strong start with eight runs on the Bears in the first inning.

The third inning would be the most productive for Summerville.

Savanah Egger, Kat McKinstry and Laikin Skinner each had an RBI as the Bears put four runs up.

The Bears left seven runners on base in their season opener.

Summerville is scheduled for a road game against cross-town rival Sonora at 5:30 p.m., weather permitting.

The Bears and the Wildcats are 0-1 in league and 1-3 overall.
