Don Pedro High School track team won its second consecutive Mountain Valley League championship this spring.
In the championship meet, Joseph Miramontes won both the 800-meter run and 1600 in school record times, Michael Gross won the 200, 400 (new school record) and long jump, Elzie Pruett won both the 110- and 300-meter hurdles, Tyler Goodrow placed in the shot put, discus with school records and also the 200, Jonathon Miramontes placed in the 800, 400 and long jump, Jafet Perez placed in the 100, 200 and long jump and Carlos Arzate and Izel Arzated both competed in shot put, discus and relay.
Other Don Pedro records were set by Sierra Eaton in shot put and discus and Kelsea Tischman in the long jump.
Joseph Miramontes was named Outstanding Track Athlete for the 2017 season and Goodrow was named the Outstanding Field Athlete.
The Panthers will strive for its third straight championship next year with all athletes expected to return aside from seniors Goodrow and Perez.
