Summerville Bears etched a rare blowout victory over Calaveras High School for homecoming Friday night at Thorsted Field in Tuolumne.
The Bears moved to third place in the MLL after mauling Calaveras 30-6 for their first win over 2019 defending league co-champions in a number of years.
Summerville (4-3 overall, 2-1 MLL) was celebrating both homecoming and senior night and will end its 2021 varsity regular season Friday night on the road against Sonora (5-3 overall, 3-0 MLL).
Calaveras ended its season with a 2-6 overall record and 1-3 in the MLL following the loss to Summerville.
Bret Harte High School did not field a varsity football team this year due to a lack of players. This was the first full regular season since 2019 due to the COVID-19 pandemic that resulted in a shortened spring season without playoffs or league champions being named.
