The Columbia College Claim Jumpers were beaten 87-67 Wednesday night by Fresno City College in Fresno, as the Jumpers lost for the first time this season.
The Jumpers are now 14-1.
The Jumpers put in their worst shooting night of the 2019-2020 season and gave up too many
turnovers, Rick Francis with Columbia’s coaching staff said. Columbia was down 50-37 by halftime and could not recover.
Fresno played a strong press throughout and Francis said that caused the most damage for Columbia. The Jumpers saw a lot of their shots rattle in and out, Francis said. Leading scorers for Columbia were Seth Shakes with 16 points, DeShawn Bartley with 14, and Seth Coddington and Grayson Carper with 11 points each.
Columbia is scheduled to play next at 6 p.m. Saturday on the road against Porterville. Their next home game is scheduled at 6 p.m. Jan. 15 when they host Reedley in the Oak Pavilion at Columbia College.
