The Sonora Wildcats varsity girls soccer team surrendered three goals in each half of a non-league match Wednesday evening on the rain-slickened artificial turf at Dunlavy Field and fell 6-2 to the Manteca Buffaloes.

Junior attacker Amarys Machado, number 7 for Sonora, scored one goal and assisted on the other Sonora goal by Brenna Canepa, number 11, for the Wildcats. Sonora goalkeeper Liberty Wheeler made 11 saves.

The loss evens Sonora’s overall record at 1-1-1: one win, one loss, one draw. The Wildcats varsity girls are scheduled to play their next match against Gregori High School of Modesto at 5:15 p.m. Dec. 9 at Dunlavy Field.
