Sonora and Calaveras both play regular-season ending games Friday night, Sonora at home versus Summerville, and Calaveras at home against Bret Harte. This photo shows Sonora, in white, against Calaveras, in black, in a Jan. 14 game Sonora won 52-46 in Bud Castle Gym.

The Calaveras boys soccer team beat Argonaut 5-0 in a makeup game Thursday evening in San Andreas to finish 6-1-3, behind Summerville and Sonora, who tied 1-1 Tuesday this week to split first place and the 2019-2020 Mother Lode League title.

All three varsity boys soccer teams, Summerville, Sonora and Calaveras, will make the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section playoffs. Postseason brackets with seeds, opponents, times, dates and locations are expected to be released Friday afternoon.

In varsity basketball, girls and boys teams in the Mother Lode League have six regular season-ending games scheduled Friday evening.

In varsity girls basketball, Argonaut, Calaveras and Sonora are 1-2-3 in the league standings as of Friday morning. All three teams will make the playoffs, and the outcomes of their games Friday will help determine seedings in the postseason.

Argonaut is 8-1 in league play and they can win the undisputed league championship with a win at Amador, or tie for a share of the league with a loss to Amador and a win by Calaveras, 7-2, over Bret Harte in San Andreas.

The Sonora varsity girls basketball team plays Summerville at Bud Castle Gym in Sonora. Sonora can tie Calaveras for second if they win and Calaveras loses. All varsity girls basketball games are scheduled to start at 6 p.m.

Following the girls games, varsity boys basketball teams go head-to-head at the same locations, in Sonora, San Andreas, and Sutter Creek.

Sonora is undefeated in Mother Lode League play at 9-0 and the Wildcats clinched the undisputed league championship last week. They play 0-9 Summerville at home in Bud Castle Gym.

Calaveras is 6-3 in the league and they play 2-7 Bret Harte. Calaveras can clinch second place and a better postseason seeding with a win. A loss by Calaveras would open the door for Argonaut or Amador, who are both 5-4 in league play, to move up and tie Calaveras for third place. All varsity boys basketball games are scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m.

Postseason basketball brackets are expected to be announced Saturday afternoon by CIF Sac-Joaquin Section administrators.
