Lloyd Longeway is well known as the boys basketball coach at Sonora High.
But this week he's turning to another sport he loves: soccer. He played soccer for 19 years including at Columbia College and Stanislaus State.
He's hosting soccer camp for kids, beginning with 7-year-olds and up to high school age.
He hopes to help athletes improve soccer skills and overall game strategy.
Participants ages 7 through 10 practice from 9 to 10:30 a.m., 11 to 13 from 10:35 a.m. to noon and high school players from 12:05 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Longeway holds a CIF high school coaching certification and a bachelor's degree in physical education. The camp ends Thursday.
The camp is one of many sponsored by The Tuolumne County Recreation Department. Also held this summer will be camps focussed on fencing, baseball, horseback riding, golf, rock climbing.
