Summerville High School

The girls varsity and junior varsity basketball teams are on the road this week for a pre-season warmup. They’ll take part in the Oakdale scrimmage Wednesday at Oakdale High School. The JV game starts at 6 p.m. with varsity following at 7:30 p.m.

The Bears boys soccer team will face off against Atwater on the road Thursday. The junior varsity team plays at 4:30 p.m. Varsity action gets underway at 6 p.m.

Summerville wrestling will host their annual Black and Orange Duel Friday. For additional details on match times, call the school office at (209) 928-4228.

The Summerville girls varsity cross country team earned a spot in the CIF Sac-Joaquin sections. The meet was originally scheduled for Saturday, but poor air quality forced meet organizers to reschedule. Read more about the changes on D1.

Sonora High School

The boys varsity football team is on the road Friday for Round 3 of the CIF Sac-Joaquin playoffs. They’ll play Colfax on the road. Colfax hasn’t lost a game this season and are coming off a 56-21 rout over Los Banos.

The girls basketball team gets their season underway Friday at home. The Wildcats will host Livingston in a non-conference matchup. The junior varsity game starts at 5:30 p.m. followed by the varsity game at 7 p.m.

Columbia College

The Claim Jumpers’ womens volleyball team is on a two-game win streak, earning two straight-set victories in conference play last week. They’re now 9-9 in conference play and 11-13 overall.

The Jumpers’ mens basketball team owns the best record in the CCCAA Central Valley Division.

The team was part of a whirlwind of opening weekend activities, hosting two home games as well as the 1993 Championship winning team.

Columbia played Marin Saturday as part of the Columbia Classic, cruising to a 62-47 win.

Sunday they hosted Diablo Valley, earning the 59-46 win.

The homestand continues Saturday as the Jumpers host Butte College at 6 p.m. at Oak Pavilion. Tickets are $5 and seating is open.
