Here's a look at what's happening with Mother Lode sports teams this week:

Summerville High School

November marks the unofficial beginning of girls basketball for the Bears. The junior varsity and varsity girls will be on the road at the Oakdale Scrimmage on Wednesday, Nov. 14. The JV game begins at 6 p.m., followed by the varsity game at 7 p.m.

Bears boys also start their soccer season next week. Junior varsity and varsity teams will be on the road for games against Atwater. The junior varsity game starts at 4 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, followed by the varsity game at 5:30 p.m.

Sonora High School

The boys water polo team is on the road today for their second round playoff game. They’ll play Christian Brothers at Johansen High School. The match begins at 9 a.m.

Wednesday the girls water polo team will be on the road for round 2 of the Sac-Joaquin Section playoffs. They’ll take on Beyer at 9 a.m. at Tokay High School.

Friday the Wildcats boys varsity football team will begin their championship bid with a round 2 game against Foothill High School at Dunalvy Field. The Wildcats had a bye week during round 1 action. The game begins at 7 p.m.

On Saturday the boys cross country team will be at the Sac-Joaquin section meet in Folsom. Races begin at 9 a.m.

Freshmen, junior varsity and varsity boys basketball teams will play scrimmage game Saturday. For details on times, contact the school office at (209) 532-5511.

Columbia College

The Columbia College womens volleyball team is on the road for two CCCAA conference games this week.

Wednesday the Claim Jumpers will be at Reedley College. Friday they’ll take on West Hills-Lemoore. Both Games begin at 6 p.m.

The Jumpers are 9-13 overall this years and 7-9 in conference action.

Sonora High School graduate and Jumpers freshman Molly O’Reilly is among the overall conference leaders with her .442 hitting percentage.

Sophomore Makenna Poole, also a Sonora graduate, is in the top 10 in conference play for kills, hitting percentage, kills and assists.

Also on the court this season for the Jumpers are Summerville graduates Grace Fulkerson and Liberty Rimmer, Bret Harte’s Kenzie Sengle and Bailey Van Zant, and former Wildcat Madison Joplin.
