Columbia cruises by Porterville Pirates


Columbia’s men’s basketball team took the disappointment of a mid-week loss to Merced and used it to overpower the Porterville Pirates at home Saturday. They beat the Pirates 85-64 to move their record to 9-3 and a tie for second in the Central deivision with West Hills.

The defense played very well in the first half, said assistant coach Rick Francis. The Jumpers held the Pirates to 22 points while putting 38 on the board.

The offense also played lights out. with five players in double figures.

Al Burge had 20 points, including three three-pointers. Jordan Windley had 18 points

Columbia returns home Saturday for their final league game against Cerro Coso. The game begins at 6 p.m.
