Fresno City finally lost a game. Columbia College is still winning, extending their streak to six with this week’s 70-63 win over Reedley at home.

The Claim Jumpers are now 8-1 in the Central Valley division and tangled at the top with the Rams.

Wednesday’s win came after a slow start for the Jumpers, said assistant coach Rick Francis.

At the half they were down 40-34.

Then the defense took over in the second, holding Reedley to just 23 points.

“The offense also started to kick in,” said Francis. The Claim Jumpers outscored the Tigers 36-23.

The Jumpers had four players in double figures.

Al Burge had 17; Marquell Hubbard scored 15; Yosnier Cobas had 13 and Jordon Windley added 11.

Hubbard had success from the three-point arc, too, hitting three on the night.

Chris Childs came in off the bench and also scored thre three-pointers.

Columbia’s only league loss came last month against Fresno. Today they’ll meet again. This time first place will be at stake.

The game is at Fresno City College and starts at 5 p.m.

Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for students and seniors. Parking costs $1 and cash-only permit dispensers are located near the lot. The gym is located on the north side of the Fresno City College campus at 1101 East University Avenue.
