The Sonora High School boys varsity team cruised to their eighth Mother Lode League win Friday night with a big win over Bret Harte, 83-36.

That gives the Wildcats a 2-0 record against the ‘Frogs this season. They won earlier in the month, 58-41.

Tonight the Wildcats are hosting Calaveras High School (6-2).

The varsity game begins at 7:30 p.m.

The Wildcats are No. 1 in the Mother Lode League, ahead of Argonaut (7-1) and Calaveras.

The ‘Cats also own the top spot in the Division IV rankings, thanks in no small part to their 17-game win streak.

After tonight’s game, the Wildcats will play three more regular season league games: On Feb. 2 they’ll host Argonaut. On Feb. 9 they’ll take on their cross-town rival Summerville at home and on Feb. 13 they play at Linden.

Those games all begin at 7:30 p.m.
