Calaveras and Sonora completed their summer football seasons Saturday with a passing tournament at Modesto Junior College. All Sac-Joaquin Section high schools are now in a mandated “dead period” for football, which means teams may only lift weights and condition but not use equipment related to their sports. Fall practice begins July 30. Sonora and Calaveras each open the season Friday, August 25, with home games. Sonora will welcome Oakdale and Calaveras will host El Capitan.
