Election ‘hate mail’

To the Editor:

I am 88 years of age. I have voted in every election I was eligible for. I am very concerned with the election material I am receiving daily from the many candidates.

People running for office used to run on their own records or merits and accomplishments. Today they are flooding the postal system with rather expensive “hate mail” about the opposing candidate, true or untrue.

It is difficult for a voter like myself to believe what they are alleging. There was a time when “slander” was libelous, but now the trash pits are the limit, not the sky anymore.

I have to take an ethics clinic given by the county as a commissioner for the Commission on Aging. It would be nice if all candidates had to do the same. I am disgusted with all political wannabes.
