Winners and losers

To the Editor:

At this time of heightened political speech it has occurred to me that no matter which politician we voted for, winner or loser, we are the only ones who can make a real difference in our family, our neighbors, our community and ultimately our world.

It’s time for all of us to ask ourselves, “What are we doing to make the world a better place?” If any of us think the politicians will do it for us, dream on. As good and sincere, dedicated, hard working as some of them are they can’t make much of a difference to our daily lives. We have the responsibility to our families to give all the love and caring that we can, all the patience to listen, without judging or evaluating, to see that all of us get to follow our dreams. Politicians cannot do this for us. Look in the mirror: You will see the person who can make a real difference, now, everyday.

Pledge to make the world a better place. As our elected officials let us down it will not help to turn on each other. Get on with your life - make a difference. We can all be winners if we don’t lose each others friendship.
