The family of Lois Loretta Palaferri (nee Farnum) of Jamestown, sadly announces her passing after a brief illness on Friday, June 7 at 81 years of age. Loretta was a resident of Tuolumne County for over 35 years and a proud employee of the National Park Service at the Yosemite Visitors Center in Groveland. She had a deep love and appreciation for the outdoors, specifically Yosemite National Park, the Sierra Nevada Mountains and Sierra Foothills.
She will be forever lovingly remembered by her family: Daughters – Melissa Oliver and Marcella Palaferri; sons-in-law – Jim Oliver and Montgomery Howard; grandchildren – Brandn and Brittney McWilliam, Brian “BJ” McWilliam and Lindsey Whiteman, Jessica Larsen and Mikayla Miller; Great Granddaughters – Lily and Harper McWilliam and August Lee Grinsel; sisters – Shirley Williams and Pam East (John) and brother – Steven Farnum; nieces and nephew – Becky Kerr, Sylvie and Kane Williams, Erin East Perry and Al Perry, Amber and Patrick D’Anna and Bradley Williams, and many additional family members.
Loretta was predeceased by her husband of 43 years, Richard Palaferri (2005); mother – Lois “Billie” Mattson (2001); father – Ralph Farnum (1997), and mother-in-law – Angela Palaferri (2004). She will be dearly missed by her friends and coworkers as well.
A memorial service to celebrate Loretta and her absolute joy for sober living, will take place on at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, June 15 at the Alano Club of Sonora, 19421 Village Dr. in East Sonora.
