La Donna was born in Los Angeles on April 22, 1940. She graduated from San Leandro High in 1958 and married her husband of 60 years, Raymond (Tom) Newton, on Jan. 4, 1959, also in San Leandro.
They made their home in Enid, Oklahoma, until 1978, at which time they moved to Hayward. Since 2004 they have made their home in Jamestown.
La Donna loved bowling and over the years traveled to many different states to bowl in national women’s and other tournaments. She always enjoyed being around people.
She is survived by her husband, Raymond (Tom) Newton, of Jamestown; three children, Timothy Newton, of Jamestown, Kathy Swayze, of Fruitland, Idaho, and Michael Newton, of San Lorenzo; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and her aunt, Jean Overstreet, of Arizona.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Vaughn Dean Flora and Georgia Fern Flora; her brother, Billy Dean Flora; uncles and aunts, Bill Overstreet, of Alaska, Paul and Marie Ferguson, of Hayward, Nyal and Faye Worsham, of Alaska; and several cousins.
Private services have been held.
