Charles "Chuck" Land, 82, of Jamestown, passed away peacefully in his sleep on May 20, 2019. Chuck was born May 25, 1936, in Neosho, Missouri. He was the son of the late Cecil and Bernice Land.

He is survived by his children, Kenneth Land, Mark (Olga) Land, Michael (Peggy) Land, Lisa (Andy) Thors and Cynthia Kabrich; brother Carroll (Gayle) Land; sisters-in-law Arlene Land, Agnes Land and Susan Land; and many loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his son, Jeffrey Land; brothers Edwin Land, Buddy Land and Ronald Land; and sisters Sharon Shute and Patsy Land.

Chuck loved sports, especially football. He was an avid San Francisco 49ers fan and held season tickets stemming all the way back to Kezar Stadium. He worked as a general painting contractor off and on for over 50 years. He was also the proud owner of a Mobile gas station in Sunnyvale. The station was sold when the family decided to move to Leggett, California, where they owned and operated Millbank Park Resort on the south fork of the Eel River. The family moved to Sonora in 1978.

Chuck's passion was the Elks Fraternal Organization. He joined the Sunnyvale Elks Lodge No. 2128 in 1967, then transferred his membership to the Sonora Elks Lodge No. 1587, where he served as Exalted Ruler in 1997.

Chuck was always there to lend a helping hand to his friends and family.

A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, June 7, at the Sonora Elks Lodge, 100 Elk Drive in Sonora.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Sonora Elks Lodge No. 1587, 100 Elk Drive, Sonora, CA 95370.
