Longtime Sonora resident Evelyn Delores Biasca Brom passed away peacefully at home on March 3, 2019. Evelyn was born and raised in Humboldt County on Dec. 12, 1920. She was the seventh of eight daughters born to Anna and Henry Biasca.

Evelyn graduated from Fortuna High School in 1939 and was one of the Fortuna High band members who played at the opening of the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco in 1937.

Evelyn married Eldon in 1944. They lived in Humboldt County for the next 30 years raising their two daughters, Stephanie and Annette, in the town of Fortuna and owned and operated Brom & Pollard Heating & Sheet Metal.
