Our family lost a wonderful husband, father and grandfather on Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2019. Ronald Alan Gorham, age 69, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at his home in Sonora following a lengthy illness.

The middle child of Thomas Albert Gorham and Lora Etta Stoneking, Ron was born on Jan. 23, 1950, in Klamath Falls, Oregon. He moved to Templeton as a child and graduated from Templeton High School in 1968. He met his wife, Nancy Winn while attending college in San Luis Obispo and they were married for 47 years at the time of his passing.

Ron was employed as a correctional business manager by the State of California for 30 years and retired from Sierra Conservation Center in 2005. Ron was a long-time board member of the Twain Harte Golf Club and treasurer of the Men’s Golf Club. While golf was one of his favorite things to do, fishing was a close second. He and his sons hiked and fished the Sierra. When his sons were young, Ron coached their soccer and baseball teams and could be found volunteering in their classrooms teaching the art of woodworking. He and Nancy loved traveling to different parts of the world.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy Gorham of Sonora; sons, Ryan Gorham of Denver, Colorado, and Nathan (Rebecca) Gorham of Sonora. He was also a doting grandfather to Olive Gorham and was looking forward to the birth of his grandson who is due in July. He also leaves a brother, Thomas (Mary Anne) of Paso Robles. His parents and his brother Dennis predeceased Ron. We will carry in our hearts his generous spirit and sense of humor.

Per Ron’s wishes, there will be no service or memorial. His ashes will be interred in his family’s plot in San Luis Obispo County. If you would like to make a donation in Ron’s name, please consider Adventist Health Hospice – Sonora, 20100 Cedar Road North, Sonora, CA 95370.
