Longtime Sonora resident Linda Scroggs Watkins passed away Jan. 18 at the age of 71. Linda was born Oct. 1, 1947, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to Woodrow and Edwena Jones.
Linda was devoted to her church, Country Cowboy Church. She loved riding her motorcycle with her husband, Bill, and their Christian Motorcycle Association group. Linda and Bill loved to travel in their motorhome all over the western United States while towing their bikes in a trailer behind them. Linda was an extremely talented quilter and loved making her family and friends quilted blankets and clothing. She loved and cherished spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Linda is survived by her husband of 26 years, Bill Watkins, of Sonora; three children, Mark Scroggs (San Ramon), Brent Scroggs (Livermore), and Chris Watkins (Jackson, Ohio); 12 grandchildren; and brother, Larry Jones (Salinas).
She was preceded in death by her father, Woodrow Jones, in 2003, and mother, Edwena Jones, in 2009.
A viewing will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Jan. 24 at Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home, and a service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 25, at Country Cowboy Church, 14535 Peaceful Valley Road, Sonora, CA 95370. Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
