Gordon Ray Molloy, born Nov. 18, 1937, passed away on Jan. 12, 2019.
Gordy was a native of Kenmore, New York. He started out with Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company in their college recruitment program based in Southern California. He was then hired by Kelly-Springfield Tire Company and worked in advertising and marketing. He spent his last 10 years working as director of Marketing & Advertising for the Lucas Dealership Group, Inc. In 1997, he took an early retirement and, with his wife, Judy, moved to their cabin in Twain Harte. He never looked back.
While enjoying retirement, Gordy gave his time volunteering with the Tuolumne County CSU on boat patrol, copy editor and contributor to the Sierra Mountain Times, water board member for the Twain Harte Community Service District, and board member at Twain Harte Lake. He also had a passion for the arts that included painting and performing with his beloved trumpet and trombone in the Columbia College Big Band.
Gordy was an honest and loving man with a wicked sense of humor. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, all who knew him and Willie, his constant companion and faithful dog. he was a loving husband to Judy for more than 61 years; father to Lorrie, Dean and Mark; grandfather to Matthew, Christina, Candice, Mark, Janelle, Amanda, Stephanie and Mercedes; great-grandfather to Erin, Jenice, Devlin, Kayden, Kylie, Natalie, Madison, Amelia, Abby, Anthony and Amayah.
A memorial celebration with family and friends honoring Gordy’s life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, at the Twain Harte Golf Club.
