Lawrence (Larry) Bouchard, Sonora resident of the last 29 years, passed away Jan. 14, 2019.
Larry grew up in the suburbs of Chicago with his parents, Ernest Bouchard, a fireman, and Marian, a music teacher. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1966. During his technical training in Colorado he met Katherine, his devoted wife of 51 years. They married in New Jersey in 1967. Larry shipped out to the jungles of Vietnam in 1970. Upon his return, he chose to make a career of the USAF serving for 24 years and retiring a decorated officer.
Larry was a man of many accomplishments. While raising three sons he attained two college degrees. He had a BA in social psychology and a MA in counseling.
He coupled his education with a compassionate heart to help hundreds of people down the path of substance abuse recovery.
He was never too busy to lend a helping hand. He spent his last years as a companion for the elderly through the Catholic Charities.
This family man and proud patriot was happiest fishing and flying in his plane. He will be greatly missed and never forgotten by the many lives he touched. “Godspeed Captain Lawrence James Bouchard.”
