Brian Herd went to be with the Lord on Nov. 27, 2018, surrounded by family and friends at Doctors Medical Center Modesto at the age of 39. Brian was born in Sonora on Sept. 12, 1979, and grew up in Cedar Ridge. In his youth, he played tournament golf throughout Northern California. At the age of 16, he won the Men’s Club Championship at Mountain Springs.
He enjoyed skateboarding, snowboarding, and exploring the Emigrant Wilderness. He was an amazing carpenter, specializing in custom home building. He was a loving father and enjoyed spending time with his children.
Brian was survived by his parents, Pamela and Allen Herd; his brother, Adam Herd (Jill Herd); his children, Natalie and James Herd; ex-wife and good friend, Marta Herd; and grandmother, Cecelia Reinhart of Fresno.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Brian Herd Memorial Golf Scholarship Fund at Sonora High School. (attn: Pam 430 N.Washington St. Sonora, CA 95370).
While Brian was at Doctors Medical Center in Modesto, he gave the gracious gift of life by donating his organs.
A service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 8 at Sierra Bible Church, 15171 Tuolumne Road, Sonora, CA 95370.
