Jean Franklin Conly, 79, died peacefully at home on April 6. She was born in San Francisco on Nov. 15, 1939, the daughter of Kenneth and Theodocia Franklin. She grew up in Visalia and enjoyed swimming, skiing and camping. For several years Jean worked for the State of California's Recreation Department in Monterey.
She was a woman who made many friends wherever she went because of her friendly, caring, outgoing personality. Jean was a positive person who saw the good in people wherever she went.
She and her husband, Mahlon Conly, moved to Twain Harte in 1996 and she became active at the Twain Harte Golf Club working in the gardens and helping with maintaining the golf course. In addition she and her friends enjoyed cards and playing golf.
Jean is survived by her loving husband, Mahlon; and her daughters, Gretchen Sohns, in San Jose, and Jennifer Calvary, in Central Point, Oregon; and her son, Zachary Sohns, in Aptos. In addition she his survived by three loving stepchildren, Paula Massa, in San Jose, Michael Conly, in Prunedale and Eric Conly, in Hollister.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, April 28, at the Twain Harte Golf Club.
