Nancy was born to Lloyd and Evelyn Garrison in Salt Lake City, Utah. At the age of 10, she and her family moved to Los Angeles, where she grew up with her sister, Barbara, and brother, Jack. She was a proud graduate of UCLA and a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority. Nancy originally intended to pursue a career as a professional pianist, but decided to earn her teaching credential and taught young children for many years in Hawaii and California while raising a family of her own. Throughout her life she enjoyed traveling within the United States and to other countries, learning about U.S. history, and researching the family’s genealogy.
Nancy loved belonging to PEO, AAUW and Zeta Rho and made many wonderful and caring friends in these organizations.
Widowed three times, she is survived by her children and stepchildren, Monica Sander, Susan (Steve) Buis, David Baker, Jenny (Ron) Spicer, John (Judi) Shacklett, and Jim (Priscilla) Shacklett; as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Nancy was preceded in death by her husbands, Hugh Sheldon, George Baker and Jack Shacklett; as well as children Jerry Shacklett and Jean Dickinson.
At her request, there will be no services.
