Julia Josephine “Julie” Balistreri, age 96, of Manteca, died Wednesday, Nov. 22, at Manteca Care in Manteca. A former resident of Sonora, she was born April 7, 1921 in Harvey, Louisiana. She was united in holy matrimony to Manuel J. “Bud” Balistreri on April 22, 1941. Julie lived a full life as a homemaker, nurse, rancher, bookkeeper, administrative assistant, and she was active in REACT with her husband, Bud. Her most admired achievement was loving and caring for her family. She had a love for animals, nature, gardening, cooking and baking.

Julie is survived by son, Bob Balistreri (Rosann); and daughter, Joan Christian (Chuck); grandchildren, Lisa Robertson, Theresa Ruiz, Staci Bier, Tina Husa, Michael Balistreri (Jennifer), Bridget Christian, Mary Christian; great-grandchildren, Krystle, Kacey, Terra, Natasha, Monique, Jacob, Mickayla, Christian, Miranda, Tylor, Ashleigh, Mickenzie; great-great-grandchildren, Gabriel, Aubree, Giovanni, Giuliana; and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She was preceded in death by husband, Bud Balistreri; daughter, Judy Ann; and great-grandchildren, baby Ernie Ruiz and Mireya Faith Husa.

A family graveside service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 29 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery in Sonora. A celebration of life will be held in the spring, on her birthday, April 7, 2018.
