Louis "Butch" Pastorini passed away on Oct. 10, 2017, at Empire Ranch in Folsom in the company of his beloved wife, Susan, and his daughter Jennifer.
Born in San Francisco to Dante and Dorothy (Brady) Pastorini, Butch was a graduate of Sonora High School. He attended Santa Clara University. His major was in business math and his minor was in physics. He received his administrative credential and master's degree from San Jose State University.
After attending Santa Clara University, Butch taught geometry and physical education at St. Vincent School in Vallejo and Bellarmine Prep in San Jose. He stayed in the Bay Area to raise his family and work for the Santa Clara Unified School District (SCUSD).
Butch was hired on Sept. 1, 1968, as a business education and math teacher at Buchser Jr. High School. After teaching for five years, Butch became an administrator at Cabrillo, Curtis, Buchser, and Peterson schools, then director of classified personnel and assistant superintendent of personnel.
Butch retired on Oct. 31, 2004, with 36 years of service.
Tough on the field and soft on the inside, Butch's love of football led him to play in high school (Sonora High School Hall of Fame 2012), college (All Coast Associated Press 1964, MVP 1965 All American Team) and then to coaching at Santa Clara University for 25 years, until 1993 when the program was ended.
He will be greatly missed by his wife, Susan, his children and stepchildren, Todd (Heather) Pastorini, Jennifer Pastorini, Stefani (Jeff) Pastorini-Curtis, Jeffrey (Kimberly) Stanga, Mark Stanga and Tracey (Zach) Stanga-Jarvis, his five grandchildren, sisters and brother, his sister Dorothy (Stan) House, and their children Barbara, John, Dionna and Leanne.
Friends are invited to attend a celebration of life at noon Monday, Nov. 6, 2017, at Mariani's Inn and Restaurant, 2500 El Camino Real, Santa Clara.
