Barbara Sheila (Robinson) Berringer was born and raised in Sacramento, California. At 82, after a long battle with cancer, she passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones.

Barbara was born to Aubra and Verna Robinson, she was the youngest of three children. A brother who died in infancy and her brother, Rodney Robinson, who was her rock in her younger years.

In January 1956, Barbara married Russell Berringer in Sacramento at the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament. Together they had five children. Barbara was always involved with her childrens' activities.

As her children grew older Barbara returned to work at the State Fair in both the Fair Management Office and the Livestock Barn, where she even coordinated her own contest featuring the wonderful foods from local farms. She then transferred to the Department of Aging and retired as an associate governmental program analyst in 1995.

Barbara met the second love of her life at a rodeo. She and Woody (Elwood King) spent 24 wonderful years together. They traveled the western United States enjoying rodeos as they went, and in Canada attended the Calgary Stampede. They moved to Sonora in 2006 and lived among the pines together until Woody’s death in 2009.

Barbara is survived by her five children, Cynthia, Cheryl, Janette, Laurie and Michael (Shannon); her grandchildren, Cassandra, Russell, Rebecca, Caitlin, Megan, Emily, Camille, Julia, Natalie and Gabrielle; and her great-grandchildren, Cameron, Alexander, Calleigh, Liliana, Caden, Alice, Abigale, Raider and Alessia. She will truly be missed by all.

A funeral mass will be held on Friday, Oct. 27, 2017, at 1 p.m., at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 127 Jackson Street, Sonora, California. A reception will follow in the Parish Hall.
