Adolfo Negrete passed away on Sept. 28, 2017, at his son’s home in Imperial, California.

Adolfo was born in December 1927 in Guanajuato, Mexico, and moved to Sonora in the 1940s. He worked for the local lumber mill for nearly 50 years. During the early 1980s, he was the owner of a popular Mexican restaurant, Puerto Vallarta, in Sonora. He was an active member in the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC), as well as a member of the Knights of Columbus. Adolfo was a dedicated member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and was a minister of communion for many years.

Adolfo always enjoyed discussing politics and current events, but most of all he loved being with his family and friends. His happiest times were spent making memories with the love of his life, his wife, Maria. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather — a truly devoted family man. He was loved by so many people and will be deeply missed by all.
Adolfo is survived by his wife of 49 years, Maria Negrete; his son and daughter-in-law, Alejandro and Mindy Negrete, his daughter, Azucena Negrete; his grandchildren, Antonio Negrete and Tomas Negrete; his sister, Ofelia Negrete; and three brothers, Alfonzo, Roberto and Rodolfo.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Enrique and Guadalupe; and his brother, Raul.

A Rosary vigil will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 12, at Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home in Sonora. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 13, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Sonora.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in honor of Adolfo Negrete to Matthew 25: Ministries at St. Patrick's Church.
