Betty June Romero, age 85, was born in Bakersfield, California, on April 27, 1932, and entered into eternal life with her lord and savior Jesus Christ on Sept. 18, 2017, at Avalon Care Center in Sonora.
Betty worked as a branch manager at Barclays Bank/Wells Fargo for many years in San Jose. After her retirement, Betty enjoyed traveling in the family motorhome with her husband and beloved pets, Maggie the white Scottish terrier, and their Dachshunds, Oscar, Rockford and Roxanne.
Her hobbies included cooking and decorating her home. She was very active in her church, “The Little Red Church,” St. James Anglican, in Sonora.
Betty was a very compassionate person and was very committed to her family and will be forever loved and missed by all! “Until we meet again!”
She is survived by her husband of 27 years, Lee Richard Romero, of Twain Harte; her sons, B. D. Colwell, of Nevada City, and Russell Colwell, of Reedsport, Oregon; her daughter, Julie Netzloff, of San Jose; her stepdaughters, Linda Bullock, of Lacey, Washington, and Lori Ramoz, of Chester; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great-granddaughters.
Betty was preceded in death by her father, James Canon, in 1970; and her mother, Bessie Canon, in 1989; and her brothers, Bob and Wayne.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Oct. 6 at All Saints Church in Twain Harte.
