Looking for a Black Friday activity other than shopping? Planning to work off a few calories with exercise the day after Thanksgiving?
Volunteers are being sought to help complete a new section of Dragoon Gulch Trail on Black Friday.
“We’re looking for people who can work with hand tools, like shovels, rakes and picks,” said Kevin Anderson, the city’s designated caretaker for Dragoon Gulch Trail. “No power tools. It’s a short piece, 150 to 200 feet, added to the new trail.”
Anderson was referring to a new section of trail more than 160 volunteers worked on in October, below the existing summit trail section. The new trail section, like the rest of the Dragoon Gulch trail system, is for walking and bicycling.
Volunteers have to sign up with the Sonora community development department, which closes for the week at 4 p.m. Wednesday.
Anderson said there are also trail work days scheduled Saturday, Dec. 21, and Saturday, Jan. 25. For more information and to sign up, contact Anderson at email@example.com or visit the city community development department at 94 N. Washington St.
