The Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a non-life threatening gunshot wound a person sustained in Valley Springs Tuesday afternoon.
Sgt. Greg Stark with the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office said the Sheriff’s Office was called at about 4:30 p.m. They learned a person had suffered a gunshot wound to their upper body and was taken to an area hospital.
By about 6 p.m. Tuesday, investigators had spoken to all the people involved and there was no public safety threat, he said.
Stark said the Sheriff’s Office would only release limited information pending a press release to be sent out later on Wednesday.
According to a Calaveras Consolidated Fire release on Facebook, the shooting occurred at the Mobil gas station on Vista Del Lago in Valley Springs. The victim was transported by air ambulance to a trauma center in Modesto, it said.
Stark said the Sheriff’s Office was not releasing at this time whether anyone was arrested or charged. Detectives were evaluating what precipitated the fight.
The Calaveras County District Attorney’s Office was also conducting interviews to get a better picture of what happened, he said.
