Big rig accident

A 23-year-old from Lamont overturned a three-axle big rig onto its roof while driving in La Grange Friday afternoon and suffered minor injuries, but his load of lumber was spilled on the road.

According to California Highway Patrol - Sonora Area press release, Jimy Torres-Pineda was driving a 2012 Kenworth big rig pulling a trailer filled with lumber about 40 miles per hour southbound on La Grange Road and south of Green Springs Road.

At about 1:30 p.m., he allowed the big rig to travel onto the dirt shoulder because he did not navigate a right curve in the road. The vehicle overturned onto the roof horizontally across both lanes of La Grange Road and the lumber load and other debris blocked the road.

Torres-Pineda was able to exit the vehicle, the press release said.

At about 3:30 p.m. on Friday, the release said traffic was being detoured onto Red Hills Road and Green Springs Road. La Grange Road is expected to be closed for several more hours.
