Someone smashed the window of a jewelry store on South Washington Street early Monday morning and made off with over $20,000 in jewelry.

Krishna Livingston, dispatcher with the Sonora Police Department, said surveillance footage was being reviewed at Three Hawks Jewelers on South Washington Street, but no suspect was determined at this time.

According to Sonora Police Department logs, someone saw a man in all black smash the window of the business at approximately 5 a.m. on Monday before running northbound on South Washington Street.

Livingston said the window was believed to have been broken with some kind of metal pipe. When the window was broken, the suspect is believed to have grabbed the jewelry items in the display.

The smash made an audible alarm, the logs said.

The burglary remains under investigation, Livingston said.
