Tuolumne County Sheriff’s detectives were investigating a shooting Tuesday night on Robin Road in the Twain Harte area that resulted in one man being taken to a hospital for treatment of at least one gunshot wound.
Sheriff’s Deputy Niccoli Sandelin said multiple people reported hearing multiple gunshots after 5 p.m. Tuesday. He said deputies arrived at the scene and learned a male victim had taken himself to a Twain Harte fire station.
Sandelin said the man was transported from the station to a hospital, but he didn’t know whether it was Adventist Health Sonora or another hospital in the region. He also said they weren’t sure whether the man was shot once or multiple times and didn't know his condition as of 7 p.m.
“I don’t have those details right now,” he said. “It’s a fluid investigation.”
Detectives were at the scene conducting an investigation as of 7 p.m., Sandelin said. He didn’t know whether the shooting occurred at the victim’s home or someone else’s home.
Sandelin said people described the suspect as a white male between five and six feet tall with a beard and wearing a T-shirt. He also said they were still investigating how many people may have been involved.
There was information provided about a suspect vehicle, but Sandelin said nothing was substantiated to release publicly as of about 7 p.m.
“I suspect we’ll have more information tomorrow,” he said.
