California Highway Patrol officers were at the scene of a head-on collision Friday afternoon on Highway 4 east of Stallion Way between Angels Camp and Copperopolis.
One person suffered major injuries in the crash and had to be taken by helicopter to an out-of-the-area hospital, according to the CHP.
The accident was reported about 1:21 p.m.
Highway 4 at Stallion Way was shut down for awhile until one lane could be reopened at about 2:35 p.m.
CHP Officer Tobias Butzler said he didn’t have much more information about the crash as of 2:45 p.m. because the officers who responded were still at the scene investigating.
One of the vehicles involved was reportedly a Dodge pickup, Butzler said, though he didn’t have any details about the other one.
Butzler said he also didn’t have any details about the people who were in the vehicles at the time of the collision, including the person who suffered major injuries.
People driving in the area were advised to expect delays.
