A married couple from Burbank were identified on Thursday as the victims of a suspected double murder that’s being investigated by the Mono County Sheriff’s Office.
A Caltrans snow-plow driver discovered the bodies of William Adrian Larsen, 35, and Yesenia Larsen, 30, shortly before 6:30 a.m. Monday on the side of Highway 395 in Mono County near Devil’s Gate Pass, about 10 miles north of Bridgeport.
They are believed to be the targets of a "specific and targeted" murder, the Mono County Sheriff’s Office said in a new release on Monday.
After the bodies were discovered, the highway was closed for an investigation by the Sheriff's Office and California Highway Patrol.
Bridgeport is the county seat for Mono County, which shares a border with Tuolumne County at the top of Sonora Pass roughly 25 miles west of where the bodies were discovered.
Deputy Niccoli Sandelin, spokesman for the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office, said in an email on Wednesday that he had no information about the case and was unaware of any assistance requests being made by the Mono County Sheriff's Office.
