Tuolumne County deputies responding to a chainsaw theft at Aladdin Motor Inn Wednesday also found heroin in a suspect’s room.
Deputies were called around 10 a.m. due to a chainsaw being taken from a customer’s truck bed. Deputy A.T. Boujikian watched surveillance video and saw another guest take the chainsaw and hide it in some bushes.
The deputy went to the room and found a man and woman who were on searchable probation. The man was wanted on a misdemeanor charge.
K9 Thor was brought in to search the room and found over 20 grams of heroin, and other drug sales and drug use related paraphernalia.
The man had a forged check in his pocket, the Sheriff’s Office said.
Jared Mobley, 25, of Southerland was arrested on suspicion of possession of narcotics for sale, grand theft, possession of a forged check, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Samantha Miccichi, 27, of Sonora, was issued a citation on suspicion of having a small amount of heroin and drug paraphernalia. She was released from the scene.
Mobley is also a suspect in a June 19 “smash and grab” robbery of about $150 in merchandise at D&D Antiques in Jamestown. He was booked on a robbery charge.
