Tuolumne County Sheriff’s deputies are in the early stages of a homicide investigation after finding a man dead with multiple gunshot wounds inside a home in La Grange on Sunday.
The Sheriff’s Office put out a statement at 5:52 p.m. Monday announcing the investigation was underway and asking for anyone with information to contact the investigation division.
Sheriff’s deputies were called to a home on Highway 132 Sunday afternoon for a report of a “murder” and discovered the body of man in a bedroom of the residence who appeared to have been shot multiple times.
There were two Mariposa County Sheriff’s deputies already at the scene with the person who reported the crime when Tuolumne County Sheriff’s deputies arrived, the statement said.
The statement did not say when exactly the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s deputies got the call, when they arrived and who reported the crime to them, or why the Mariposa County Sheriff’s deputies were at the scene.
The Union Democrat was awaiting responses from the Sheriff's Office to questions sent Monday afternoon and will provide more information as it becomes available.
No additional information was provided about the victim or a suspect, or suspects. Deputies were reportedly in the early stage of the investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the killing.
