A 33-year-old Mi-Wuk Village woman crashed a pickup truck occupied by her 1-year-old toddler in Sonora Wednesday night and was later charged on suspicion of driving under the influence and child endangerment charges.
A California Highway Patrol news release stated the crash occurred about 8:20 p.m. near Indian Rock Center on Mono Way in East Sonora.
Stephanie Foster, 33, was driving a 2015 Ford F-150 pickup truck and traveled off the north edge of the road, over a sidewalk and into a bus stop kiosk, the release stated.
CHP officers on scene determined Foster to be under the influence of a controlled substance at the time of the crash.
The release stated that officers also believed the child was in an improperly installed child seat during the crash. The child was not injured and was released to child welfare services.
Before Foster was transferred to jail, officers located what was believed to be methamphetamine and heroin on her person, the release said.
Foster was booked into the Tuolumne County Jail on suspicion of driving under the influence, felony child endangerment and drug possession charges.
According to Tuolumne County booking logs, her bail was set at $25,000.
