Four armed, masked men broke into a Sonora home and subdued the occupants before making off with jewelry, paintings, cash, a wallet and firearms, the Sonora Police Department said Monday.

The police are seeking information about the break-in and theft, which occurred between 11 p.m. and 11:54 p.m. on Sunday night.

"Many of the circumstances are still unknown at this point, but the initial investigation suggests this to be an isolated incident," the department said Monday in a news release.

Officers were called to a residence on Park Lane in Sonora for a report of the armed robbery at 11:54 p.m., the release said.

They learned four masked men forced entry into the residence and were armed with a firearm. They subdued two occupants and gathered the valuables before leaving in an unknown direction.

A woman said the suspects were in dark clothing and armed with firearms, according to a log note from the Sonora Police Department.

She said they left in an unknown direction, and it was unknown if they used a vehicle.

A Be-On-the-Lookout notice was issued to allied law enforcement agencies after the alleged theft, the log note said.

The news release said the victims were not harmed during the home invasion.

The department is asking for information from the public for anyone who may have heard anything suspicious in the area of Park Lane, Oakside Drive or East Bald Mountain Road.

The region connects a series of neighborhood roads north of Lyons Street and west of Greenley Road.
