A woman was arrested Saturday morning on suspicion of burglarizing the Murphys Fire Protection District station with intent to steal weed trimmers, a leaf blower, food, sunglasses, and extension cord, and other property, a Calaveras County sheriff’s sergeant said Monday.
About 8 a.m. Friday, a Murphys Fire captain told law enforcement he witnessed a woman in possession of items stolen from the station.
Deputies said the woman gave them a false name and told them she was there to do some landscaping around Murphys Fire buildings. Deputies said she had gone into the garage where Murphys Fire vehicles were parked, a main building, and several vehicles, including an ambulance.
They said she had some items on her and had placed several items around the property, and the Murphys Fire captain had interrupted her efforts, a Calaveras County sheriff’s sergeant said.
Charlotte Nicole Edwards, 34, from Cameron Park in El Dorado County was arrested Saturday morning and booked at Calaveras County Jail on suspicion of felony burglary, tampering with a vehicle, and giving false identification to avoid prosecution. She was being held in the county jail with a bail of $20,000, a Calaveras County sheriff’s sergeant said Monday.
