The Sonora Police Department reported the following:

WEDNESDAY

11:06 a.m., animal complaints — An abandoned kitten was seen in a back parking lot on Hospital Road and taken to animal control.

12:13 p.m., theft — A woman took makeup out of its packaging inside the restroom of a Mono Way store and left with the items on foot.

1:53 p.m., theft — A man stole a tall can from a Mono Way store and tried to drink it in the restroom.

5:33 p.m., hazardous situation — A TV was removed from the middle of North Washington Street and Columbia Way.

8:11 p.m., any civil problem — A Sanguinetti Road resident said she let several transients stay on her back porch for a few weeks, but they refused to leave when asked.

The Sheriff’s Office reported the following:

WEDNESDAY

8:41 a.m., Sonora — A elderly woman was knocked down by a dog in the backyard of her Corte Primero home and hurt herself.

10:12 a.m., Sonora — A mountain lion was seen in a tree on Upper Hillview Drive.

3:02 p.m., Twain Harte — A kid was seen kneeling on the side of the westbound lane of Highway 108.

4:26 p.m., Sonora — An executor of an estate on Danata Way said she found a hand grenade with no pin in it, a shotgun, shotgun shells and a knife at the home.

7:22 p.m., La Grange — A person on Merced Falls Road was disputing a charge on his account and said, “do I need to go shoot up the merchant?”
