The $3.3 million Yosemite Junction intersection project is on schedule for completion Aug. 31, Caltrans information officer Warren Alford said Friday.

George Reed Inc. began the project in May and has added an extended left-turn lane for westbound traffic on Highway 108 to access Highway 120 and they have completed the drainage for the project.

An electrical crew will finalize the installation of wiring for the new signal next week and the construction of the island and median for the high-T intersection will begin Sunday, Aug. 4.

Alford said they will be completing the final paving the week of Aug. 12. Currently, cars are prohibited from turning right onto Highway 108 from Highway 120, which is likely be in effect until the end of the project, Alford said. The project is meant to increase safety and traffic flow in the area.
