With all precincts reported, Nancy Scott lead Jordan Reiser by more than 500 votes in Sonora Union High District Area 1, and in Trustee Area 2, Erik Andal and Jim Riggs both held a more than 900 vote lead over Michael Garrett in the final report for Tuesday night issued by the county Elections Office.
Scott had 1,823 votes to Reiser’s 1,301 votes. Andal had 3,259 votes, Riggs had 3,160 votes and Garrett had 2,238 votes.
There are additional ballots to be tabulated from ballots that were dropped off at polling places throughout the day.
“This is amazing. It’s very neat to be able to be doing something like this for the very first time, so it is very exciting that I am leading,” said Nancy Scott, who left the Sonora Union High School Board of trustees meeting on Tuesday night after 7 p.m. while the current board was in closed session.
Reiser could not immediately be reached for comment.
In the first results, Nancy Scott had 1,416 votes, or 57.8 percent. Reiser had 1,007 votes, or 41.10 percent, and 27 write-in votes accounted for 1.1 percent.
Trustee Area 1 will elect one new candidate to the board, and Trustee Area 2 will elect the top two candidates, filling a total of three seats vacated by current board members.
In Trustee Area 2, Andal said early Tuesday evening, “it looks like I have a pretty good shot at winning the seat.”
Riggs also said the news was “positive” but said he was waiting for the polling place data to be issued before he felt confident in a victory.
