Sonora Police officers on foot in the Stockton Road area heard yelling from a travel trailer and saw a man drag a woman through the trailer by her feet, according to a Police Department news release.

The officers called to the man, who dropped on top of the woman. Officers believed he was going to hurt her and detained him. Near the doorway in the trailer was a .22 caliber rifle, which the man was not allowed to have because he was a convicted felon. He had been convicted of robbery and assault with a deadly weapon.

The incident happened around 8:30 a.m. Thursday.

Larry Hunter, 50, was arrested on suspicion of domestic battery, a misdemeanor, and felony possession of a firearm.

The news release said the woman was not injured.
