A man last seen Saturday at the Hetch Hetchy entrance to Yosemite National Park has been reported missing and authorities in the park are seeking information from anyone who may have seen him.
Alan Chow is identified as a 36-year-old resident of Oakland. People he works with called Yosemite staff Tuesday to say he had not come back to work as scheduled.
In undated photos shared on Twitter and Facebook by Yosemite National Park communications staff, Chow is pictured wearing black frame glasses, a dark blue jacket and a blue pack. Authorities say he is 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall, 130 to 150 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.
Public affairs staff in Yosemite did not respond to questions about Chow on Thursday.
News agencies in the Bay Area have reported Chow had a backcountry permit for three days in the Hetch Hetchy area. People on foot and in a helicopter began searching for Chow on Wednesday.
Authorities in Yosemite are urging anyone who has information about Chow and his whereabouts, or anyone was in the Hetch Hetchy area Feb. 17 to Feb. 20 to call or text 888/653-0009. Tips can also be submitted via https://www.nps.gov/isb/ online.
