A Twain Harte man sustained major injuries Monday afternoon after his vehicle struck three trees and a large boulder off of the shoulder of Highway 108 east of Argyle Road in Sonora.
Michael Anthony Stone, 57, was driving a 2013 Ford F150 eastbound on Highway 108 about 55 miles per hour when his vehicle drifted off the south road edge.
His vehicle hit a tree and, while continuing in a southeasterly direction, hit a large boulder and another tree before turning in a clockwise direction and coming to stop when it struck a third tree.
The vehicle sustained damage to the front bumper, hood, grille, both front fenders, roof, windshield, right rear bed and both passenger and driver side doors as a result of the impacts.
CHP logs indicate that the vehicle overturned as a result of the collision, and that it came to rest at least 40 feet from Highway 108.
The man was helped out of the vehicle by emergency personnel and had lacerations to his right arm and a broken left leg.
Stone was taken to Doctors Medical Center in Modesto for treatment.
The collision is still under investigation, but neither drugs nor alcohol are believed to have been factors in the collision.
