The Tuolumne County Commission on Aging’s Centenarian Honors Lunch has been rescheduled to 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 7.

Tuolumne County residents who are 96 and older will be recognized and honored with a special lunch provided by the Senior Center. Representatives from the Tuolumne County Board of Supervisors and local law enforcement will escort, seat and serve our esteemed guests. Join us for a lunch of three-cheese spinach lasagna and help us honor and celebrate our seniors. A $5 donation is encouraged.

Chef’s table

November’s special guest at the Chef’s Table will be Darrell Slocum, executive director of the Sonora Area Foundation. Darrell will join us at noon Thursday, Nov. 14, for a lunch of sweet and sour meatballs, veggie brown rice and more. The Sonora Area Foundation is a strong supporter of the Senior Center and Meals on Wheels, most recently providing a grant for $5,000 to help upgrade technology at the senior center. An upgrade of the antiquated phone system and installation of a new satellite Internet service will bring the center into the 21st century. Thank you Sonora Area Foundation.

What are you thankful for?

Starting Monday, Nov. 4,we will have a “Gratitude Jar” in the dining room at the Senior Center. Folks can take a slip of paper and write down (anonymously) what they are grateful and thankful for this year. Please take a few minutes to participate as our goal is to share these messages of gratitude with community members to remind us to celebrate and be thankful for the little things.

The Senior Center will host a bake sale from 9 a.m. until the goodies run out on Friday, Nov. 22. Purchase fresh baked goods including specially sized Cover’s fruit pies, pastries from Devon’s Delectables and an assortment of items donated from community members.
